Dr. Laurent M. Gerschel

Dr. Laurent M. Gerschel, is chairman of the Laurent and Alberta Gerschel Foundation, and has been a leading philanthropist to the top teaching hospitals in New York City. Trained as a physician, he was the chief medical resident for a major New York City hospital, and in that capacity ran the affairs of the hospital for a full year.

For the past ten years, Dr. Gerschel has been the leading proponent and supporter of new nuclear medicine centers such as The Laurent and Alberta Gerschel Nuclear Medicine Center at prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York City. Dr. Gerschel uniquely understands the underlying politics in the medical community at the highest levels and enjoys direct relationships with the CEOs of the top teaching hospitals.

Dr. Gerschel is also experienced in the area of finance, having been a limited partner at Lazard Frères for more than 10 years before co-founding André Meyer Group, his own investment group. The combination of his professional training, his success as a philanthropist, plus his experience as a financier, qualifies him to continue to lead advances in New York City’s major nuclear medicine centers.
