Dr. Laurent M. Gerschel
Dr. Laurent M. Gerschel, is chairman of
the Laurent and Alberta Gerschel Foundation, and has been a leading
philanthropist to the top teaching hospitals in New York City. Trained as a
physician, he was the chief medical resident for a major New York City hospital,
and in that capacity ran the affairs of the hospital for a full year.
For the past ten years, Dr. Gerschel has been the leading proponent and
supporter of new nuclear medicine centers such as The Laurent and Alberta
Gerschel Nuclear Medicine Center at prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New
York City. Dr. Gerschel uniquely understands the underlying politics in the
medical community at the highest levels and enjoys direct relationships with the
CEOs of the top teaching hospitals.
Dr. Gerschel is also experienced in the area of finance, having been a limited
partner at Lazard Frères for more than 10 years before co-founding André Meyer
Group, his own investment group. The combination of his professional training,
his success as a philanthropist, plus his experience as a financier, qualifies
him to continue to lead advances in New York City’s major nuclear medicine
centers.
